A Backyard for Entertaining

Mandate

This family loves entertaining and spending time outdoors. They wanted a new shaded area for dining, a bar area/dry kitchen area, a space to BBQ and a place to sit around a fire pit. We created a patio design out of Pavé Uni, with all the different areas in their wishlist. We designed a bar island out of reclaimed wood from a barn in Ontario, with a granite countertop that could stay (covered) outdoors all throughout the winter. The island has stool seating for three, and doubles as a dry kitchen area where they could also prepare or serve food. A seating area around a new wood fire pit features a swing chair; a fun seating option that they can enjoy. The

black and grey chairs have a wooden insert to echo the wood in the new shaded pergola over the dining area. Lighting was also an issue, as they like to spend time outside in the evenings, so we added string lights around the perimeter of the pergola as well as an outdoor chandelier in the center. We re-designed the wood deck into a bigger one, so an iron bistro table and 2 chairs could fit for breakfasts or brunch in the morning. The stairs which were originally on the side were relocated to the front of the deck, centered with the patio door. This makes coming in and out of the house to the patio much easier and provides better access to the pool.
